Could a Rams-Ramsey Reunion Be in the Cards? L.A. Staying in Contact with Dolphins Amid Trade Buzz

Jalen Ramsey played a pivotal role in helping the Los Angeles Rams secure a Super Bowl title during the 2021 season. Just a year later, financial constraints led to his trade to the Miami Dolphins. Now, as the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, the possibility of a Ramsey return to L.A. is back on the table.

The Dolphins have reportedly made Ramsey available for trade, and Rams general manager Les Snead confirmed on Tuesday that the two teams have been in contact amid the usual flurry of draft-week discussions.

“There’s a lot of nuances to that situation based on all the things that come with a trade — contracts and things like that,” Snead said during a video conference with reporters. “So not sure where they’re at in the process.”

Ramsey, now 30, is set to make $24.2 million in guaranteed salary this season, according to OverTheCap.com. That figure could be a key sticking point in any potential deal.

Still, head coach Sean McVay didn’t dismiss the idea of bringing back the three-time All-Pro.

“He’s a great player,” McVay said. “We know him very well — we know him intimately. You would certainly never rule out the possibility of that. There are a lot of layers that would need to be worked out with a player of his magnitude and the things that accompany that, but you’d never eliminate the idea of adding a total stud.”

If a reunion were to happen, Ramsey would rejoin a Rams secondary that includes Darious Williams, Ahkello Witherspoon, Cobi Durant, and Emmanuel Forbes Jr. His return would instantly strengthen Los Angeles’ defensive backfield and inject leadership into a young and evolving unit.

While nothing is imminent, the door appears to be open — and for a franchise looking to make another deep playoff push, the idea of reuniting with a proven star like Ramsey might be too tempting to pass up.
