Denver Broncos signed Pro Bowl tight end Evan Engram to a two-year deal.

The Denver Broncos have secured the services of two-time Pro Bowl tight end Evan Engram, agreeing to a two-year contract worth $23 million, with $16.5 million fully guaranteed, as confirmed by his agent, Mike McCarthy, on social media Wednesday. Engram’s move to Denver comes after he was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this month, a move that saved the Jaguars nearly $6 million in salary cap space. The Broncos, who have been in need of a consistent playmaker at the tight end position, are hoping Engram will be the answer to their offensive struggles.

At 30 years old, Engram has proven himself to be one of the top tight ends in the league. He first made a significant impact with the New York Giants, who selected him 23rd overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. Over his five seasons with the Giants, Engram totaled 262 receptions for 2,828 yards and 16 touchdowns. However, it was his time with the Jaguars that really allowed Engram to blossom into one of the most dynamic receiving tight ends in the NFL.

Engram’s first season with the Jaguars in 2022 was a career year, as he signed a one-year, $9 million deal and set new personal bests with 73 catches for 766 yards. His performance earned him a Pro Bowl selection, and the Jaguars rewarded him by applying the franchise tag in 2023. After reaching an agreement on a long-term deal, Engram went on to set new career highs in 2023, posting 114 receptions, the second most in Jaguars franchise history, and 963 receiving yards. He also added four touchdowns, showing his importance to Jacksonville’s offense.

Despite his success, Engram’s 2024 campaign was marred by injury. He missed eight games due to hamstring and shoulder issues, limiting his production. In the nine games he did play, he finished with 47 receptions for 365 yards and one touchdown. While his injury-riddled season was a setback, Engram's potential remained clear, and the Broncos are hopeful that he can stay healthy and provide the offense with a strong and reliable option at tight end.

For the Broncos, the addition of Engram addresses a position that has been a weak spot for the team in recent years. Denver has struggled to find consistent production from the tight end position, and Engram brings a wealth of experience and reliability. His ability to stretch the field as a receiving tight end will also complement the Broncos’ passing attack, which has been inconsistent in recent seasons.

Engram’s versatility and pass-catching skills make him an ideal fit for the Broncos, who have looked to add playmakers to their offense. With Engram now joining the team, Denver is optimistic that his presence will improve the offense and give quarterback Russell Wilson another reliable target in the passing game.

As Engram begins his new chapter with the Broncos, his move also marks the end of his tenure with the Jaguars. While Jacksonville will have to find a replacement, the Broncos are excited about what Engram can bring to their offense. Engram, now in his seventh NFL season, will look to build on his previous success and prove that he remains one of the league’s top tight ends.

With Engram now under contract, the Broncos will look to strengthen their offensive unit as they continue to build toward a playoff push in the 2025 season. His arrival in Denver is a significant step toward improving the team’s overall performance and addressing one of their most pressing needs on offense.
