Domi's Overtime Heroics Lift Leafs to 3-2 Win Over Senators, Take 2-0 Series Lead

Max Domi scored the overtime winner as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Ottawa Senators 3-2 on Tuesday, taking a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven series. The Leafs started fast, scoring twice on their first four shots, but Ottawa responded with a strong second period that saw Brady Tkachuk pull the Senators within one. The game remained tight, and Adam Gaudette deflected a shot past Toronto’s Anthony Stolarz to tie the game at 2-2, sending it into overtime.

In overtime, Domi delivered the game-winning goal just 3:09 in, securing the victory for Toronto. Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube commended his team’s early aggression, noting how they came out strong in the first period. However, he acknowledged that Ottawa dominated the second period, and the Leafs' play became more passive as they tried to protect their lead. Despite this, the Leafs kept pushing and, in the end, capitalized on their power play opportunities.

Berube also praised Max Domi for his hard work and the big overtime goal, highlighting the forward's strong all-around game. He discussed Morgan Rielly's solid play, including his first-period goal, and expressed satisfaction with Anthony Stolarz’s performance, especially considering his injury struggles earlier in the season. Stolarz made 26 saves, including a crucial one on Ottawa's high-danger shots.

The Leafs will now head to Ottawa for Game 3, looking to extend their series lead to 3-0. With a commanding start to the series, Toronto is in a strong position to build on their momentum as the playoffs continue.
