Donovan Mitchell Shines with 30 Points, Ty Jerome Dominates the Fourth as Cavs Take Game 1 vs. Heat

In a commanding 121-100 victory over the Miami Heat on Sunday, April 20, 2025, the Cleveland Cavaliers seized control of their Eastern Conference first-round playoff series. Donovan Mitchell led the charge with 30 points, marking his seventh consecutive Game 1 with at least 30 points, equaling Michael Jordan's record for such streaks. 

Darius Garland contributed significantly with 27 points, while Ty Jerome made a remarkable impact off the bench, scoring 28 points, including 16 in the fourth quarter alone. Jerome's performance was especially notable as it was his playoff debut, and his timely scoring helped the Cavaliers maintain their lead and secure the win. 

The Cavaliers' sharpshooting was evident, as they connected on 18 of 43 three-point attempts. Miami, despite strong performances from Bam Adebayo (24 points, 9 rebounds) and Tyler Herro (21 points), couldn't overcome Cleveland's offensive prowess. The Heat did manage to cut the lead to 98-90 with 7:26 remaining, but a 13-4 run by the Cavaliers, highlighted by Jerome's scoring, put the game out of reach. 

This victory gives the Cavaliers a 1-0 lead in the series, with Game 2 scheduled for Wednesday night in Cleveland.
