"I gave it everything I had," Graham said at the start of his presser.
Brandon Graham has officially announced his retirement from the NFL after a remarkable 15-season career, all with the Philadelphia Eagles. The veteran defensive end made the announcement during a press conference at the NovaCare Complex on Tuesday afternoon, where he also shared details about his future plans with the organization.
As the longest-serving player in Eagles history, Graham’s career ends on a high note, with his final game being a Super Bowl victory. Over his illustrious career, Graham earned two Super Bowl championships with the Eagles, joining Lane Johnson, Rick Lovato, and Jake Elliott as the only players to win two titles with the franchise.
Graham’s legacy is cemented with several franchise records. He played the most regular-season games in Eagles history (206), becoming the only player to ever reach 200 regular-season games with the team. His 15 seasons with the Eagles also broke the previous record, surpassing Chuck Bednarik. Graham’s total of 218 games played, including postseason games, is the most ever for an Eagles player.
Among his many achievements, one of the most iconic moments of his career came in Super Bowl LII. In the final minutes of the game, with the Eagles holding a 38-33 lead, Graham made a game-changing strip-sack on Tom Brady. Derek Barnett recovered the fumble, and the turnover set up a crucial Jake Elliott field goal that extended the Eagles' lead to 41-33. The Eagles won their first-ever Super Bowl, and Graham’s play was the only turnover the team forced in the victory, contributing to breaking a 57-year championship drought for the franchise.
Graham also holds the record for the most postseason sacks in Eagles history, with 5.5. He ranks third in the franchise’s all-time sack list with 76.5, trailing only Reggie White (124) and Trent Cole (85.5). His impressive career also included a second-team All-Pro selection in 2016, a Pro Bowl nod in 2020, and a career-high 11 sacks in the 2022 season at age 34. According to Pro Football Focus, Graham ranks fifth in pressures since 2010 with 702 and 11th in pressure rate (15.5%) among players with at least 1,000 career snaps.
Brandon Graham’s decision to retire marks the end of an era for the Eagles, as he is remembered as one of the franchise’s all-time greats. His contributions on and off the field, including his leadership, determination, and crucial plays, will ensure his place in Eagles history for years to come.
