Stephen Curry to take extra time to recover from pelvic contusion

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is taking more time to heal from a pelvic contusion that has kept him out of the lineup for the past two games. Curry missed the Warriors' 112-86 loss to the Miami Heat on March 25, 2025, marking his second consecutive game on the sidelines due to the injury. The Warriors had hoped Curry would return to the court following a workout on Monday, but after assessing his condition, the team decided to give him more time to rest.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr explained that while Curry looked good during his workout, a late movement triggered some discomfort, prompting the team to err on the side of caution. "He worked out yesterday and he looked good," Kerr said. "But at the very end of the workout, just one movement that he made didn’t quite feel right." The decision to hold Curry out of the game against Miami came as a precaution to avoid aggravating the injury.

The injury occurred during a game on March 21 against the Toronto Raptors, forcing Curry to miss Golden State’s loss to the Atlanta Hawks on March 23. The 37-year-old is having another solid season, averaging 24.2 points and six assists per game while shooting 39.4% from beyond the arc. However, with the Warriors' playoff aspirations on the line, the team wants to make sure Curry is fully healed before returning to action.

Despite missing the past two games, the Warriors are optimistic about Curry’s recovery timeline. Kerr indicated that the team expects Curry to return to the lineup on Friday, March 28, when the Warriors face the New Orleans Pelicans. Kerr also noted that the team’s schedule has given Curry a good opportunity for rest and recovery. “That’ll be a full week off,” Kerr said. “That can really take care of the injury and regenerate, recharge his batteries. I think it’s a good plan.”

Curry’s injury comes at a crucial point in the season for Golden State, who is battling for playoff positioning in the Western Conference. Having their star player sidelined for any extended period could have major implications for the team's postseason hopes. Fortunately, the Warriors have built a cushion in their schedule, with two days off before and two days off after the Miami game, giving Curry ample time to recover without further rushing his return.

While Curry’s absence was felt against Miami, the Warriors are hopeful that his recovery will be swift, and they will need him back to continue their push for a strong finish to the season. For now, Golden State will continue to monitor Curry's progress and await his return to the court when he is fully ready.
