The Future of Fantasy Basketball: 6 Bold Predictions for 2025-26
Share
The 2024–25 NBA regular season is in the books, and while the playoffs bring the drama, fantasy managers are already eyeing next year. Here are five fearless forecasts that could shape the fantasy landscape in 2025–26:
1. Anthony Edwards Will Lead the NBA in Scoring
With Karl-Anthony Towns gone to New York, the Wolves are officially Ant’s team. Edwards averaged a career-high 27.6 PPG this season—good for fourth in the league—while launching over 10 threes a game and hitting nearly 40% of them. His usage rate (31.4%) screams “alpha scorer,” and with no Towns to share the ball, a 30+ PPG season and scoring title feels well within reach.
2. Kevin Durant Will Be Traded to the Mavericks
Durant’s future in Phoenix is murky. At 37 with one year left on a massive $54.7M deal, he’s still elite—but likely on the move. Dallas, reeling from trading Luka Dončić and watching Kyrie Irving potentially miss most of the season, needs a splash. Don’t be surprised if the Mavs pull the trigger and bring KD to Big D in a last-ditch effort to stay relevant and competitive.
3. Immanuel Quickley Will Finish Top-20 in 3-Pointers Made
Quickley’s injury-shortened campaign hid how dangerous he is from deep. In just 33 games, he shot 37.8% from three and averaged 2.6 makes per night. With a full, healthy season and the green light in Toronto’s offense, he’s primed to clear 200 threes and crack the league’s top 20 in makes from downtown.
4. Onyeka Okongwu Will Be a Top-10 Double-Double Machine
Okongwu finally took over as the Hawks’ full-time starting center late in the season—and he didn’t disappoint. Over his last 41 games, he averaged a clean 15 and 10, notching 19 double-doubles. With Clint Capela likely out of the picture and Okongwu entering his prime, a 40+ double-double season and a top-10 finish in that stat is on the table.
5. Matas Buzelis Will Crack the Top 100 in 9-Cat Leagues
The Bulls are going all-in on their youth movement, and Buzelis is front and center. Over the final 31 games of the season, he averaged 13/4/1 with strong percentages and 1.7 threes. In games with 30+ minutes, those numbers ballooned to 18/6/2 with 1.7 blocks and lights-out efficiency. If he holds down the starting PF spot—and he should—Buzelis could easily rise into the fantasy top 100.
6. Scoot Henderson Will Break Into the Top-10 Fantasy PGs
After a shaky rookie season, Scoot Henderson is poised for a breakout in 2025-26. With a more defined role and improved playmaking, he closed the 2024-25 season averaging 19.2 PPG, 7.1 APG, and 1.6 SPG. With a full offseason to develop, Scoot’s athleticism and increasing efficiency should push him into the top-10 fantasy PG conversation next season.
